General practice is the frontline of the NHS, playing a crucial role in providing care to patients, in the heart of communities across Scotland.
But general practice is under huge strain and urgently requires further investment if GPs are to continue to provide high-quality patient care that’s fit for the future.
That’s why RCGP Scotland is calling on the Scottish Government to increase the level of overall spending on general practice to 11% of the Scottish NHS budget.
This will help us to build the GP workforce that Scotland desperately needs, help ensure GPs have manageable workload levels and increase opportunities to train the GPs of the future. Moreover, 11% of the NHS budget will help to tackle the root causes of health inequalities.
